Singer, PhD, LCSW, for practical guidance on recognizing the signs, starting difficult conversations, and helping a child feel heard and supported.
This event is intended for parents and caregivers of children in grades K–12, as well as educators and school professionals who support young people.

We are so excited to welcome our Green Devil family back to school! The first day is almost here, and we can't wait to see our students walk through our doors. As we begin another wonderful year together, here are a few reminders to help your first day go as smoothly as possible.
Morning Arrival
Car riders may begin unloading at 7:20 AM, and the doors will close promptly at 7:50 AM.
Please help us keep everyone safe by:
Entering through the car rider entrance off Sharpe School Road
Following directions from staff members directing traffic
Having students exit on the passenger side of the vehicle
Remaining in your vehicle while staff assist your child
We know the first day is a special one! Feel free to snap a quick picture from your vehicle before your child heads inside.
Kindergarten Families
Kindergarten parents are welcome to park in the side lot beside the gym and walk their child inside on the first day, but this is completely optional. Some children transition best with a quick drop-off or by riding the bus, so please do what is best for your family.
Parents who walk in are welcome to stay in the gym until our kindergarten students are dismissed to their classrooms. Kindergarten classes will be the last to leave the gym, giving everyone plenty of time for hugs and goodbyes.
Bus Riders
Please be patient with our bus drivers during the first few days of school. Routes often take a little longer until everyone becomes familiar with their stops and schedules.
Lunch Visitors
To help establish routines, we will not host lunch visitors during the first few weeks of school. We will announce the date when lunch visits may begin.
When lunch visits open, families will need to call the office in advance to reserve a spot. Because seating is limited, requests must be made before 9:30 AM on the day of the visit.
Transportation Changes
All afternoon transportation changes must be communicated to the office before 2:30 PM.
Students may not be checked out of the office after 2:45 PM. If your child has an appointment, please plan to check them out before that time. After 2:45 PM, all students will be dismissed through their regular transportation plan.
Afternoon Car Rider Pickup
Car rider dismissal begins at 2:55 PM.
Please remember:
Enter from Sharpe School Road.
Follow all directions from staff members.
Have your car rider tag displayed each afternoon.
If you do not have your tag, you will be directed to a waiting area and asked to present a photo ID before your child is released.
The first few afternoons are always our busiest, so we appreciate your patience as everyone learns the routine.
A Few More Reminders
Breakfast and lunch are FREE for all students this year.
If you need to communicate something important during the school day, please contact the school office. Teachers are focused on students throughout the day and may not be able to respond to messages immediately.
Please know that from the moment your child arrives until they head home, they will be surrounded by caring adults who are committed to keeping them safe, helping them learn, and making them feel loved. We take great pride in caring for every child who enters our building, especially those joining the Sharpe family for the very first time.
Enjoy this final evening before the school year begins. Hug your children a little tighter tonight, and know that tomorrow starts another year filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and make lasting memories.
Our staff has worked incredibly hard this summer to prepare for your children, and we cannot wait to begin this journey together. This year, our focus is on being Rooted in Growth—helping every student grow academically, socially, and emotionally while building a strong foundation for lifelong success.
There truly is no better place to learn, grow, and belong than Sharpe Elementary School.
We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!
